Meri is a printed fabric, inspired by the sea surface and its horizon of the Finnish summer. Sunrise and sunset rhythm the days and offer a precious, ephemeral light reflection.
The print design has been drawn by hand, dots by dots in order to create a vibrant and soft gradient surface, from the deep blue of the sea to the soft colour of the sky's light.
Designed initially as a tablecloth, the horizon line crosses through the center of the table, serving as a table runner. By sharing moments at the table, the vibrant colour surface reminds the preciousness of each instant and invites people to look at each other, like reflections of themselves on a water surface.
Meri has been declined in furoshiki, tablecloth and tea towels.
Meri has been exhibited at the Finnish Institute of Sweden in 2022 and at the Finnish Institute of Paris in 2023, exhibitions produced by UU Market (Finland).
Meri は、フィンランドの夏の海面とその地平線からインスピレーションを得たプリントファブリック。
日の出と日の入りが一日のリズムを刻み、その一瞬の光の反射が、かけがえのない美しさ。
このプリントデザインは、海の深いブルーから空のやわらかな光の色まで、点描で手描きされたグラデーションで構成されている。
最初はテーブルクロスとしてデザインされていて、水平線がテーブルの中央を走り、テーブルランナーのような役割を果たす。
テーブルを囲んで共に時間を過ごす中で、この鮮やかな色の面がその瞬間の大切さを思い起こさせ、水面に映る自分の姿のように、互いに見つめ合う時間を自然に生み出す。
Meri は、風呂敷、テーブルクロス、ティータオルとして展開されている。
この作品は、2022年にスウェーデン・フィンランド・インスティテュート、2023年にパリ・フィンランド・インスティテュートにて展示。（UU Market（フィンランド）によって企画・制作）
